“Something Wonderful Is Always Happening...”
(Read a story about Jerry Dixon by Ellis Anderson in the Shoofly here.)
One man helped shaped the creative heart of Bay St. Louis in ways that will happily reverberate for generations to come. Jerry Dixon’s Serenity Gallery was located on Main Street for years, and his slogan above his shop – “Something Wonderful is Always Happening…” was usually finished with “in Bay St. Louis”.
Jerry became an icon among artists of the Gulf Coast, especially in Bay St. Louis. As a one-man welcoming committee, he recruited many visitors to become residents. He was an encourager of countless local artists and provided them with a venue to sell their art, and helped begin the 2nd Saturday Art Walks in downtown BSL.
His many friends wish to honor him in the town he called home by hosting a sale of his art collection on January 27 from 5pm-7:30pm. This event will be a silent auction with staggered closeouts on bids beginning at 6:15pm. Funds raised will be used to install a memorial star in the walkway on Main Street where Jerry's gallery was located. Any funds remaining will be donated to Jerry's favorite organizations: The Hancock County Animal Shelter, and The Arts Hancock County.
The public is invited. No registration required for this event.
