The Arts Hancock County would like to invite you to participate in our Inaugural Black Arts Invitational Art Show and Sale. We will be celebrating Black History month with several events throughout February highlighting Black artists and their artwork.  The art show and sale will focus on connecting with contemporary black artists in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama.  The show will be installed from February 4 to February 28,  with an opening reception on February 4 from 5pm to 7pm.

This Juried Invitational is open to Central Gulf Coast (Mississippi, Alabama & Louisiana) artists 18 and older. Only original work created in the last five (5) years and not previously shown at The Arts, Hancock County will be accepted. All forms of media are eligible, including 3D and video, with a limit of four pieces per artist for submission and consideration. All submissions  will be reviewed based on the aesthetic and technical skills of the artist. All applicants will be notified regarding acceptance by January 28, 2023. Artwork must be delivered to Hancock Arts on January 31, February 1 or 2 during the hours of 9am-4pm.

All entries must be submitted as: *.jpg saved at 300 dpi (if using iPhone, send at highest resolution) and must not to exceed 2000 pixels in any direction, or MP4 videos that are no longer than one minute in length. Artists may provide up to two separate images for each work submitted.  Artists may submit up to 4 individual works for consideration.  Entry titles must be labeled as such: First initial/Last name/Title/medium/size

Artists may submit an artist statement and price their work(s) for sale if desired. Hancock Arts, a 501c3 organization, charges 30% commission on all art sales. All photos of submissions must be emailed to with Black Arts Submission in subject line.. All unsold artwork must be picked up by March 4.

The exhibit will be on display in the new Hancock Arts Center in Bay St. Louis for the month of February.  Please visit our website at to learn more about our organization.
