In this four hour session, students will learn not only the basics of encaustic, but the different materials you can use within the medium. Students will experiment with encaustic paints, image transfers, shellac burn, scraping back for textures, and layering objects/paper within the wax.
Students will walk away with a ready-to-hang 8”x8” cradled panel, 6”x6” encaustic board, and any other practice pieces they accumulate. No prior encaustic experience necessary, just come ready to get messy and creative. "Looking forward to sharing my passion with you!" $130 fee for Members$143 fee for Non-members$50 materials fee payable to instructor on day of class. Please bring a lunch snack and beverage, as we will be working thru lunch.
About your Instructors: Shannon Mello is an encaustic artist in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is an award winning artist and works with galleries in Colorado Springs, Denver, and Boulder, Colorado.
