YOUR GALLERY to sell your art!

  • The Arts, Hancock County

    Member Gallery Policies and Requirements

The Arts Members Gallery is available to any active member to exhibit and sell work. This is not a juried show.

  • DATES FOR SHOW & SALE OF ARTWORK THIS ROTATION IS JUNE 14 THRU JULY 7.

  • Exhibitions will hang/display for one month. In submitting works, artists are committing to display their artwork for the duration of the exhibit. If a piece is sold and must be removed the artist must bring a replacement immediately.
  • Please submit original artworks not previously exhibited at The Arts, Hancock County. Artwork may be two or three dimensional.
  • The gallery will hang works from a maximum of 15 artists; each of whom may submit 1-3 pieces of work. Registrations are limited to 15, so if you are registered you are included.
  • The same artist cannot exhibit in sequential months, but can submit new work every third month. There may be themes at  various times to be determined later.
  • A new show opening will occur in conjunction with the monthly membership meeting which occurs on the second Wednesday of each month. Each artist is invited to give a short talk about their work and explain their methods or stories behind each work - let us know if you'd like to do so.
  • Art must be dropped off beginning on the Friday and Saturday prior to the monthly membership meeting. To schedule a drop off or pick up time outside of this window please email hancockarts@gmail.com or call 228-342-4521.
  • Members Gallery artwork must be for sale. The Arts retains 30% commission for each work sold. The Arts will collect and report all sales tax. Buyers will be requested to leave the work with a red dot for the duration of the exhibition. All sales will require a copy of the buyer’s driver’s license or other form of identification and  a signature accepting that “the artist retains all rights of reproduction”.
  • Each artist is asked to act as docent and work at least part of one day during the month of their exhibit to meet and greet visitors/customers or ask another artist friend to fill in. It is the responsibility of the artist to provide this replacement. The Arts is open Tuesday through Saturday. Hours are 9am – 4:30pm.
  • Each artist will be asked to submit a one-paragraph artist statement and any explanation of their work for the docents to use when working for each show. Many times visitors ask questions and like stories about the artworks. This helps sales.
  • There will be no size requirement at this time but may be set later. All work MUST be wired and ready to hang. Saw-tooth hangers and sticky-back hangers or any other form of hanging apparatus are not permitted. Non-traditional assemblages are acceptable but require discussion in order to determine that The Arts can accommodate them.
  • All artwork must be identified with labels securely attached on the back for identification. Labels should include the artwork title, artist’s name and phone number, medium and sale price.
  • PLEASE DOWNLOAD AND PRINT THIS DOCUMENT TO BRING WITH YOU WHEN YOU DELIVER YOUR ARTWORK.
  • Prior month's artists must pick up their work beginning on the Friday, Saturday or Tuesday prior to the monthly membership meeting, at the membership meeting, or make other arrangements by contacting hancockarts@gmail.com.
