About Your Instructor: Bay Saint Louis, MS based artist, Mary Ann Mays, draws and paints her surroundings and environment in watercolor and acrylics. Capturing her perspectives and interpretations as sometimes she and her husband travel the USA in their motorhome, she employs her own unique styles and techniques. She also delves into nature-inspired abstracts. Her Facebook page, Mary Ann Mays Art, features a variety of paintings showing landscapes, farmscapes, antique cars and trucks, animals, portraits and still life.
“Since early childhood, I have been fascinated with the colors and shapes found in the world around me. Nature, animals, landscapes and the aging of manmade things are found in my work. My inspiration drives me to find the interesting aspect of something and attempt to share it. Drawing and painting give me a sense of satisfaction and joy. There is no better way to spend time in my opinion.”
She grew up and was educated in Illinois, studying at Southeast Illinois Community colleges, Southern Illinois University and Eastern Illinois University. She enjoyed a long career as a Design and Communications Specialist for several manufacturers and businesses. Mary Ann has conducted adult beginner and intermediate workshops and formerly taught for Grumbacher Art Supplies.
