KIDS INTRO TO HAND-BUILDING CLAY
Appropriate for kids 9-16
Students begin with soft clay, learning hand-building techniques: pinch pot, coil, and slab construction including joining clay and adding textures. These original hand built creations will dry for at least a week before being fired in a kiln.
The creations will then be painted and glazed before the second firing. Each of the four classes is 1 hour long plus 10 extra minutes to clean up. Students will complete 4 to 5 pieces. All students will make a piece of (twice-fired) functional pottery such as a spoon dish that can be used at home and a (once-fired) expressive creation like an animal which will be painted with acrylics only.
This series meets on four Wednesdays from 1pm - 2pm: June 14, 21, 28, July 12 (NO class on July 5)
Fee for members $114.29Fee for non-members $125.72Materials fee: $15 payable to instructor at start of class. (includes clay, use of tools, glazes, two firings)
