    Art Without Walls is a pop-up market that offers local artists the opportunity to display and sell their own artwork in the historic Bay St. Louis Depot Arts District.  There are 7 pop-up markets scheduled for 2022.  Artist are encouraged to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to display their talents.

    2022 Pop-up markets are scheduled for March 12th, April 9th, June 11th, September 10th, October 8th, November 12th, and December 10th. All of the above dates are the second Saturday of the listed months.  The pop-up market time is from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

    The pop-up markets will be held on the grounds of The Arts, Hancock County located at 405 Blaize Avenue, Bay St. Louis. Artist may begin to set up tents beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning.  At this time, artists will be provided a welcome packet for the current pop-up market.  The packet will include tent assignment and the sales tax form.  

    Art Without Walls, a pop-up market does not require a booth fee.  However, artists who wish to participate must be a member of The Arts, Hancock County.  To join, please visit hancockarts.org/join-us.  Artists are required to charge 7% sales tax for all items that are sold.  At the end of each market, all sales tax collected and the original sales tax form will be turned in to a representative from The Arts, Hancock County.  The Arts will submit all sales tax to the Mississippi Department of Revenue.

    All artists will need to register on the provided registration form.  You will need to register for each individual session.  Just click on the registration form tab at the top of this page.

    #ArtsAlive BSL 2022 Volunteer Roles:

    There are a variety of volunteer roles  available. A description for each of the roles is listed below.  Each role is divided into shifts you can register for.  Please sign up for as many shifts as you are available to work.   We appreciate all that you do.

    Publicity:  Team members will work with the Publicity Coordinator to promote #ArtsAliveBSL prior to the festival. Beginning in April, promotional materials and signage will be placed throughout the area by this team.  The Publicity Coordinator will contact volunteers when the publicity blitz begins.

    Shifts:  Beginning in April. You will be contacted when needed.

    Registration: Team members will assist with artist & artisan registration early Saturday morning on May 21. Registration will begin at 7:30 AM at The Arts, Hancock County headquarters at 405 Blaize Avenue, Bay St. Louis.

    Shift:  Saturday, May 21, 2022,  7:15 AM - 9:15 AM

    Artist & Artisan Showcase: This team is responsible for logistics and support for artists and artisans around the event. Members are responsible for artist placement and management.

    Entertainment:  The entertainment team is responsible for making sure that all performing space are equipped as needed by performers, oversee performers' set up, and ensure that performing schedule runs on time. Team members will also troubleshoot for performers as needed.

    General Volunteers: This team assists with whatever is needed and wherever they are needed. These volunteers are extremely important to the success of the festival.

    Information Booth:  The role of this volunteer team is to provide information and support to festival visitors. Team members will hand out festival guide/map, direct people to venues and attractions, collect surveys, and solicit donations. This team will be positioned at the Information Booth on the west side of the Community Center and will also walk around the festival grounds.

    Site Management:  The Site Management Team serves as leads for set-up, tear-down, and other site related tasks. Members are always available and should be available on radio/walkie-talkie/phone. This team will troubleshoot problems and oversee/manage volunteers.

    1.  Saturday,  May 21,   9:00 AM - 11:00 AM 

    2.  Saturday,  May 21,  11:00 AM - 1:00 PM 

    3.  Saturday,  May 21,   1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

    4.  Saturday,  May 21,   3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

    MakerSpace :  This team will oversee set up and tear down of the demonstration area as well as troubleshoot for artists & those demonstrating as needed.

    Shifts:

    1.  Saturday, May 21,   10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    2.  Saturday,  May 21,  12:30 PM - 2:30 PM

    3.  Saturday,  May 21,    3:00 PM - 5:00 PM


    Culinary Dessert Competition:  Team members will assist with dessert check-in, set-up, the dessert tasting, the tallying of scores, and clean up.

    Shifts:

    1.  Saturday, May 21,   12:00PM - 1:30PM

    2.  Saturday, May 21,     1:30PM - 3:00PM

    #ArtsAliveBSL is an innovative art festival, where music, art, and theater mix it up for an unforgettable experience in the historic seaside town of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Dozens of artists will show work and/or demonstrate technique and share their creative process with customers at locations across The Depot Arts District.

    After a two year hiatus due to Covid-19, we are coming back bigger and better.  This year, #ArtsAliveBSL will be located in the Depot Arts District and  Community Hall located on Blaize Avenue.  Please note that the festival does not included access to the Depot building, Depot grounds, or the Depot parking lot.

    In order to register for this event, you must first be a member of The Arts, Hancock County.  You can join at https://hancockarts.org/join-us.  As soon as you join, you can register for this event.  Thanks for your support!


    #ArtsAliveBSL Refund/ Cancellation Policy:

    In the event of circumstances beyond the control of The Arts,

    Hancock County (War, natural disaster, threatening weather, public

    health emergency or other acts of God) which force the cancellation

    of #ArtsAliveBSL, the following refund policy will be in effect.


    If The Arts, Hancock County is forced to cancel #ArtsAliveBSL, artists will receive a 50% refund of registration fee. 

                                                                                       

    If an artists cancels for any reason, the following refund policies apply: 


    • An artist cancellation by March 21, 2022 will receive a 75% refund.
    • An artist cancellation by April 21, 2022, will receive a 50% refund.
    • An artist cancellation after April 21, 2022, will not receive a refund.

    This is a rain or shine event.  If the possibility of rain is predicted 48 hours prior to the start of the festival, the board of The Arts, Hancock County will make a determination about relocation of festival activities indoors.

    Artists are responsible for providing their own set-up, including tents, displays, tables, and chairs

    We will again feature a MakerSpace area with artists and non-profit organizations from across the region offering demonstrations to the community.  Selected artists and non-profit organizations are invited to participate free of charge.

    MakerSpace is a creative experience where learning takes place through hands-on activities and/or demonstrations.  Participants have the opportunity to be creative and apply learning strategies to develop their own ideas, methods, and products.  All we ask is that each demonstration engages the community in projects using simple hands-on learning experiences.

    We will again feature a Culinary Art Competition for non-professional chefs to showcase their dessert specialty.  The competition will be held inside of the Community Hall located at 301 Blaize Avenue.  Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entries.  Judging will be conducted by using pre-printed ballots completed by the public.  The competition does not require a registration fee.  Please consider supporting The Arts, Hancock County by becoming a member, where you may experience opportunities to participate in programs, events, workshops, and classes. You may become a member by going to hancockarts.org and clicking on the join-us button.

    Specialty desserts may be submitted from noon until 2:00 PM in the kitchen of the Community Hall.  Dessert specialties must be set up for sampling by 2:00.  Tasting cups and eating utensils, for sampling, will be provided by The Arts.
