Dreams are not just the words we use to describe them, but are also populated with people, images and symbols. These messages of the night deserve to be treated as art forms worthy of artful exploration. This class will introduce you to methods of working your dreams. Her teaching career began in 1980 with the Ocean Springs School System and later took her to Capitol Hill Day School in Washington, DC. From 1985-1990, she owned and operated a retail shop in downtown Ocean Springs called, “Gumbo” This shop started the hand-stamped craze of the 80’s, and was successful on many levels. The DC move in 1990 took her back to classroom where she taught art from 1990-2007 at an independent school on Capitol Hill. During her years there, she participated in the famous Eastern Market and sold her hand-made goods which included pillows, tees plus hats and accessories. She had many side hustles that revolved around art and fashion. Suzanne’s current creation, House of FIN,  is an accumulation of her love for wearable art, quality products and the ability to fuse art with fashion and home decor.

About your instructor: Kerr Grabowski exhibits and teaches surface design, color and design workshops internationally. Known for her innovative approaches to dyeing and screening processes, Grabowski integrates her love of color, mark-making, and spontaneity with the challenge of creating one-of-a-kind silk fabrics, art wear and mixed media pieces. Formerly Head of Fibers at Peters Valley School of Craft in NJ, Kerr now maintains a studio in Bay St Louis MS.
A Mississippi Council on the Arts Fellowship Recipient and a NJ Arts Fellowship Recipient, Kerr is widely published, including Textiles Now, Ornament, Fiber Arts, Surface Design Journal, Fiber Arts Design Book Six, Silk Painting for Fashion and Fine Art, NY Times and an instructional DVD, Adventures in Surface Design. In her search for a more intuitive, painterly way to print fabric, Kerr created the process Deconstructed Screen Printing. Much of my work in textiles and clothing stems from an interest in cultures where art is an integral part of daily life-where mark making is a natural activity, a part of the celebration of being.”
