Diversity and Inclusion Statement

The Arts, Hancock County organization celebrates the value achieved by a diverse community both as citizens and within the Arts. We believe diversity makes our community stronger and more vibrant. The Arts organization is committed to equality and seeking out under-represented populations as we integrate Art into the fabric of our community.

As the Board of Directors,

  • We believe artists and art supporters have the power to inspire social change.
  • We pledge to be committed and accountable to creating a path and welcoming everyone interested in the Arts while acknowledging their individual knowledge and experiences.
  • We strive to support creativity and continual learning.
  • We realize that the under-served can experience disparities in terms of access to publicly funded services including arts and culture. We are committed to assisting them and others to gain access to services and to feel appreciated and welcomed in our art community. We will work to break down barriers so there is equal access to the arts.

Key terms within our Diversity and Inclusion Statement:

Diversity refers to the wide range of differences among people and their perspectives.

We use inclusion to mean the ability of diverse peoples to raise their perspectives authentically and for those voices to matter and affect decisions within the organization.
